In January, the leaders went away on a canal boat together to give us a chance to sort out the next term’s and future camps’ programmes, as well as to have an enjoyable time together without having to worry about 8 year olds climbing along the side of the boat!
Being winter, we came across just one other boat on the whole trip! It was not too cold though, especially with wood burning in the stove constantly. The trip was mostly uneventful, although at one point we came across a tree that had fallen across the canal, completely blocking our way. However about 1.5 hours worth of sawing, chopping and pulling the tree gave us enough room to get through.
