Scouts Win Quasar Competition

On Monday 7th March the 19th Maidenhead Scout Group ended the 13-year winning streak of the Pinkneys Green Scout Group in the annual Maidenhead & District Scout Quasar Competition.

The competition saw Scout Groups across Maidenhead enter teams to compete at Q-2000,Ten Pin in a series of heats over the previous 3 weeks. The winning team from each heat participated in the round robin final held on Monday 7th March.

The 3 scout teams which made it to the 2011 final were 19th Maidenhead; Bray & Holyport and Pinkneys Green A team.

After the round robin games were completed there was no clear winner, with each of the teams having both won and lost a game in a closely fought final. The winner was decided on overall points for the evening. 19th Maidenhead scoring 5,723 saw them snatch a victory over Pinkneys Green (4,205) and Bray & Holyport (3,572).

The competition first began in 1996 with a win for Boyne Hill Altwood Scout Group. Every year the competition has run since then (13 years) the competition has been won by the Pinkneys Green Scout Group.

Congratulations to the 19th Maidenhead Scout Group who will need to return to defend their title in 2012!
