Scouting Information
- Role in Scouting
- 19th Maidenhead Group Scout Leader
- Number of years in Scouting
-
11 Years after being persuaded to take the equipment to a Cub Camp. I have been Group Quarter-master, Acting Group Secretary before I was asked to become GSL
- Why are you a leader?
-
I was lucky enough to learn a lot of the skills used in Scouting at School and felt that as I had learnt them it was time for these skills to be shared by the next generation. There is a lot of satisfaction seeing the Cubs and Scouts finishing an evening meeting or camp having enjoyed themselves and tired!
- Favourite Scouting moment
-
There are so many it is difficult to choose but Coaching the team that became the winning the Berkshire Cooking competition, must be up there somewhere. Also returning from a tiring camp and having the Scouts saying thank you.

When I became GSL I set three targets:
- To restablish the Beaver Colony This is now up and Running Again
- To improve the environment in which the scouts operate in
- To ensure that parents can see for themselves what their children get up to by encouraging them to come along to more “family based events”.
- Finish painting inside and outside the hut
- New flooring in the main hall and toilets
- Get a fence put up back and front of the hut so that we can hold camps on our own ground
- New light at the front of the hut above the leaders cupboard
- Find a few more Leaders for scouts and Beavers
- Do enough fundraising to buy loads of new equipment for the kids to use
I have new list already prepared once all this is exhausted!
