Role in Scouting: Cub Scout Leader
Number of years in Scouting: Can’t remember – think its about 6 or 7. Simon still hasn’t given me my 5 year certificate… but its definitely longer than 5 years!!
Why are you a leader?: Because I’m a mug? No seriously… Its fun, I like being around young people and I get the chance to do all the things I never got to do when I was a child.
Favourite Scouting moment: Seeing my daughter (a cub at the time) overcome her fears and abseil down the climbing wall at Chalfont Heights. I never thought I’d see her do something like that and it epitomizes what is so great about Scouting: Young people getting the opportunity to do something different and to face up to new challenges.
Best Scouting activity: I love it all – although my least favorite is any kind of paperwork!
Qualifications: First Aid. Wood Badge.
Next project: To get fit enough to go on LIMA
